Drone Tech 2
For SAR teams and first responders ready to lead complex missions in life-critical scenarios.

SAR-003
Drone Tech 2
Part No. SAR-003
This course builds on SAR Drone Tech 1, aligns with Transport Canada Level 1 Complex Regulations, and prepares participants to execute complex drone missions in real-world conditions
Participants develop advanced skills in Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, night flying, thermal imaging, and hazard assessment. Through practical exercises, real-world simulations, and full Nova access for thermal and visual data analysis, the course culminates in a comprehensive final evaluation during a simulated SAR mission.
Advanced SAR Techniques.
Master thermal imaging to assist in locating individuals in dense terrain or low-visibility conditions, and conduct hazard assessments with precision.
BVLOS Operations.
Plan and execute Beyond Visual Line of Sight missions using advanced navigation, safety protocols, and geospatial tools.
Night Operations.
Perform safe and effective nighttime missions with thermal imaging, lighting considerations, and low-visibility navigation strategies.
Data Analysis Tools.
Leverage Nova's software capabilities for advanced mission planning, live-streaming, and geospatial analysis — optimizing BVLOS operations and SAR mission outcomes.
Hands-On Simulations.
Engage in realistic SAR mission simulations, adapting to dynamic challenges like adverse weather, unauthorized airspace entry, and evolving rescue needs.
Regulatory Alignment.
Operate under Transport Canada Advanced Regulations and prepare for SFOC-compliant missions for life-critical emergencies.
ROC-A Certification.
Earn your Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A) radio license as part of the course.
DAA-VO Training.
Complete Detect and Avoid Visual Observer (DAA-VO) training, a requirement for SFOC applications.
Your team operates daytime VLOS missions and needs to expand into thermal, night, or BVLOS work for life-critical scenarios? The answer is likely yes.
SAR Drone Tech 2 is built for SAR teams and first responders ready to bring advanced capabilities into the field, and for organizations implementing advanced drone programs aligned with Transport Canada regulations and best practices.
By the end of SAR Drone Tech 2, your team will be ready to:
Plan and execute BVLOS missions under approved conditions
Run thermal imaging and night operations for life-critical search scenarios
Conduct precision hazard assessments in complex environments
Operate under Transport Canada Advanced Regulations with confidence
Prepare for SFOC-compliant operations through built-in ROC-A and DAA-VO certifications
Lead drone-supported missions through real-world simulated SAR scenarios
