// Application Support & Training
SFOC Support
Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) support for operators flying beyond standard Advanced limits.

FlySmart's SFOC team helps operators across Canada navigate the application process — drafting the documentation, building the risk assessment, and submitting to Transport Canada on your behalf. We also offer training for teams who want to develop SFOC capability in-house.
You'll need an SFOC if your operation involves any of these conditions:
Drones weighing more than 25 kilograms
Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations beyond Level 1 Complex limits
Flight above 122 meters (400 feet)
Operations near military aerodromes
Foreign operators flying in Canadian airspace
Any operation not regulated under CARs Part IX
If you're not sure whether your operation requires one, ask before you assume it doesn't. The rules are narrower than most pilots realize.
We handle the SFOC application for you.
For operators with a one-off mission, time-sensitive project, or limited internal capacity for regulatory paperwork. We draft the Operations Manual, build the Concept of Operations and Operational Risk Assessment, prepare the supporting documentation, and submit the application to Transport Canada on your behalf.
Best fit if…
You have a specific mission or project on a defined timeline.
Your team doesn't have an in-house regulatory specialist.
You want a quoted, scoped engagement with a clear deliverable.
The application is one part of a broader operation we're already supporting.
For organizations running multiple SFOC operations or building long-term regulatory capability. Your team learns the application process end-to-end, including how to navigate Transport Canada publications, build operational risk assessments, and develop reusable documentation for future applications.
Best fit if…
Your organization plans multiple SFOC operations per year.
You want to develop in-house regulatory capability.
You have an operations or compliance role that needs to own the process.
You'd rather pay once for capability than per-application for service.
